Proper gear is KEY. One piece of advice that I always hear is to find gear with multiple types of use. Not only does it cut down on space since it serves multiple purposes, it’ll usually make the job less of a headache to get you on your way quicker. With that said, I’ve always been a fan of Gerber Gear. I’ve had the Mullets on all my keychains for years, and have gifted their tools in the past even if they weren’t fisherman or outdoorsman. I’ve been putting the Center-Line Mult-Tool through its paces for a few months now. It’s thrown in my small pack whenever I go trail running and hiking and the molle compatible sheath easily attaches to my Lowepro Protactical 450 camera backpack whenever we go off-roading and overlanding.
Gerber is now customizing the tool with color combos, graphics, and tool options.
From their the site:
”Now, the revolutionary multi-tool is available exclusively in the Gerber Gear Custom Shop. With 9 different color combos and the ability to upload your own image or text for more personalization, this tool is the perfect gift for that special outdoorsman in your life.”
My suggestion look at what you’re needing tool-wise and see how extensive you need it to be. The center-line is too bulky for an everyday carry unless you use the sheath on your belt loop. Gerber has hundreds of other options of knives and tools that fit all needs. Manufactured all their tools in Portland, Oregon since 1939, these are robust products to withstand all conditions.
